Guest Speaker - Julianne Sitch

PPA is proud to welcome Julianne Sitch to speak to the combine about the process of following our dream. Julianne graduated college in 2006 and played in the WPSL for the Chicago Red Stars, Atlanta Beat and Sky Blue FC in the former WPS. She has also played overseas in both Sweden for Blinge FC and in Australia for the Melbourne Victory. She will help guide the athletes through the process on how to speak with coaches, market themselves to domestic and foreign teams as well as dealing with agents.

At the end of the weekend each player will get an evaluation of their play that they can share with agents or teams that were not represented.

FAQ

Why did PPA create a Pro Women's Combine?

PPA decided to start a Pro Women's Combine in 2013 in order to increase the opportunity for female players to keep playing the game we all love! The NWSL draft will only consist of 32 players being chosen and we know that there are dozens of other players out there that deserve the chance to keep playing. We also believe that there is a professional fit for any good player that wants to put the time and effort to keep playing. Not every player will be able to someday play for the Women's National Team, but there is no reason why a good player has to have their career end once they graduate college. If Men's soccer players can keep playing, women should be able to as well!

Why is the PPA Pro Women's combine better than individual team tryouts?

The simple answer is that there will be 8-10 coaches from all different levels of playing professional women's soccer in one place. We'll have representatives from the NWSL, WPSL and the FA at the event so you'll have a much better chance at finding the right level for you.

When should I book my flight to arrive and depart the combine?

Registration for the combine will be on Friday from 2pm-8pm. The earlier you are able to register, the better. We will do physical testing that day that includes height/weight, vertical jump test, sit-and-reach flexibility test, 40-yard dash and 300m shuttle run.

The combine will end by 3:30pm on Sunday (at the latest) so you will be able to fly out anytime on Sunday evening after approximately 5pm (depending on what airport you are leaving from.

Can I bring my parents or anyone else to the combine?

Sure, you are more than welcome to bring someone along to the combine but please remind them that this is all about soccer. It will be a busy two days and you'll need to be as rested and focused as possible.

How will I get the chance to display my skills at the combine?

The combine will have two components, physical testing and games.

We will do physical testing when you arrive on Friday. More information will be included on this when you get your confirmation email.

Each participant will play 3 games and also partake in one training session. Goalkeepers will have their own goalkeeper only training session.

If I want to get a game tape to send to other pro coaches how would I do that?

We will be videotaping all of the combine games and will sell them for $30 per game after the combine ends. You can then send those tapes off all over the world or make a highlight film and put that film on youtube!

Will I get an evaluation at the combine?

Yes, we will have online evaluations that will be emailed to the athletes no more than one week after the combine. These evaluations will be in-depth enough to pass along to any coach or team that wasn't represented at the combine. They will include all of your vital statistics and an evaluation of your play.

I really don't know how to go about playing pro... will there be anyone there that can help me?

Yes, there will be some informational sessions with current players and agents that will help you navigate the waters of trying to play professional women's soccer, both home and abroad.

Is there a deadline to register?

The deadline is that we are limited to 144 women and we've already had a lot of interest. We expect to be completely booked by the last week in January. We will begin a wait list once we have reached capacity.

How much does the combine cost?

The combine costs $259. If you would like to stay right at the Holiday Inn Sports Complex and eat meals right at the hotel, than the total fee (including the combine fee) will be $499. Not a bad deal!

Do I have to stay at the Holiday Inn to participate in the combine?

Not at all! You are more than welcome to stay at any of the area hotels and secure your own transportation and food. The Holiday Inn just makes it easier logistically and they are providing a good deal!

If my friend wants to come with me to the combine, is that ok?

Sure-if you are both accepted. Just be sure to put each other down under "roommate preference" when you sign up.

What if I need to cancel my registration?

A combine credit will be issued to any athlete who must cancel prior to camp. No money will be refunded. The credit is a voucher for next year's combine as well and will be for the amount paid by the athlete. It is transferable to another party and is good through the 2014 combine. There are no exceptions for injuries, or any other circumstances.

I'm ready to chase my dream... how do I apply??

You can apply by clicking here!

Once you register you will get a confirmation email if you are accepted with all of the forms that you will need. There is a player profile form that will be given to each of the coaches, a medical form, and a liability waiver. You will also get detailed instructions about what to bring and how to prepare.
